About Santa BarbaraSanta Barbara, established in 1785 by the Spaniards on the site of an ancient Chumash Indian village, is a city in Southern California, about 150 kilometersi (95 miles) north of Los Angeles, 535 kilometers (335 miles) south of San Francisco. Located on a narrow strip between the Pacific Ocean and the coastal range. Sunny, mild, almost perfect semi-tropical climate. Altogether about 300,000 inhabitants including the Southern part (Montecito) and the Northern part (Goleta). Famous for its casual atmosphere, its literary cafes, its beaches, a TV Series, and a Spanish mission. Its annual "Old Spanish Days" Fiesta (the first week-end in August), painted Indian caves, and the TOOLS USA Conference all help give the place its unique touch, but most importantly Santa Barbara is the home of ISE.
