Outside of the logistics of where/who/how the donations will be kept and maintained, I do not see any problem with this. Why not encourage reuse of developed software? Is reuse not the benefactor of object- orientation?! And is not NICE to be the benefactor of Eiffel? If so, then, why not have NICE be directly supportive of those who are willing to write and submit their ideas for all to share? Simply put: NICE should accept and make available submitted libraries. Is there some argument against this? The organization does not have to make any claims as to the usability or fitness of the donations. I do not know what other statements would need to be made for legal positioning, but others have worked this out before. This does not have be an expensive or time consuming service, A simple set of requirements could be prepared if acceptance criteria are needed. For example, to provide a minimum level of support each submission could be required to contain a README.TXT file stating the authors' address and intention along with an overview of the donation. A statement of which clusters the donated cluseters rely on would be useful. Each submitted could could be required to contain an Indexing part.
