I agree with Bertrand: we need standards far more than we need
perfection.
However we are about to vote on changes to COMPARABLE and HASHABLE.
The proposed changes to COMPARABLE are significant, and the decision
should not take very long. Therefore it would be best if we held
off adopting PELKS as a standard until this set of revisions are
adopted.
I know that this argument could be extended to the next set of
revisions, and the next and the next. But if we declare now that the
standard will be set after the next vote, then this problem will not
occur.
