Eiffel University Projects

Eiffel Software is happy to cooperate with universities (see the page about the University Partnership Program) and in particular to help professors and students with suggestions for exciting projects at the leading edge of software technology.

Many project ideas are available at various levels:

Undergraduate projects.

Special credits projects (US), summer projects, honors projects (as offered in the British and Australian systems), Diplomarbeit (Germany), mini-projets (France) etc.

Master's thesis topics.

PhD thesis topics.

These projects provide students with the opportunity to practice some of the most advanced ideas in the software field, get in-depth expertise in object technology, and add unique elements to their resumes. In many cases, even at the undergraduate level, the projects can lead to publications in professional conferences or journals.

GRAPHICS

Extending and consolidating the Windows Eiffel Library (WEL)

WEL, the Windows Eiffel Library is a class library supporting the development of graphical applications under Windows. WEL has been very successful with Eiffel users as it has given them the ability to take advantage of both the Eiffel method and the ubiquitous Windows graphical API. The aim of this project is to take a critical look at WEL and improve it in a number of respects:

Systematic use of Eiffel techniques such as assertions, exceptions, inheritance, command classes.

More examples, documentation and introductory material.

Addition of new controls.

This project is an opportunity to learn and practice first-hand the issues and techniques of quality reusable software construction on the most popular operating system.
