Frederick Hart) Subject: Serious library problem To: bertrand@eiffel.com We acknowlege the implementation problem for `to_pointer' associated with moving collectors that Bertrand pointed out. We agree that the best course is to remove it from the standard and make it an item of discussion for vintage 96. It is unfortunate that there is a problem with this feature. It is particularly useful when interfacing with external C code. Some mechanism for passing C versions of Eiffel STRINGs to external C routines needs to be available. All ideas are welcome :-). -- Fred Hart (fhart@atlanta.twr.com) Tower Technology Corporation http://www.cm.cf.ac.uk/Tower/
