Older problems

Before reporting a problem about Eiffel for Windows crashing please check the following:

Does your machine have the required amount of RAM?

8M for Personal, 16M for Professional

How much disk space is set aside for virtual memory?

We recommend at least 20M or what the virtual memory manager (under Extended 386 on the control panel) recommends.

    Are you running Borland's Dashboard?

There appears to be a conflict with this piece of software.

    Have you loaded the patches?

A set of patches is available for Personal Eiffel for Windows. They are free, and easy to install. You must install them if you run on Windows 95. Here is how to download them.

    Are you running Windows 95?

The initial version of Personal Eiffel for Windows (3.x) will run under Windows 3.x, as it was prepared before the introduction of Windows 95. To run it under Windows 95, you need to install a patch, also available free from the Eiffel archive at SimTel.

If after all of these you are able to reproduce a problem please send us a bug report. Make sure the bug report includes the amount of memory installed and the type of processor you are using.
It will also help if you can include the amount of free memory from the Program Manager Help About dialog.
