ISE Eiffel 5: The diary of a new release
OverviewISE is currently finishing the development of the latest release of its flagship Eiffel environment. ISE Eiffel 5, more than one year in the making, is a major step in Eiffel development, the biggest breakthrough since the introduction of Eiffel 3 in 1993. To provide Eiffel users with a source of ongoing, up-to-date news, we have established this page where ISE developers will regularly post reports of their work until the day the version is actually released. 21 December 2000: About metrics
One of the most interesting aspects of ISE Eiffel 5 is a set of metrics facilities that enables users to compute various pieces of numerical information associated with a system. You can find out the number of features in a class, the average number of routines that have preconditions, how much a share of a system is taken up by a given cluster, and so on. To help explain the background behind our metrics work we are putting online an internal document describing some of our thinking on the topic. Please note that this is only a draft and will be revised as we expand our work in this area. In the meantime, try out the new metrics facilities of ISE Eiffel 5.0 and tell us what you think.
